INSURANCE YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY

• Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance¹³ — Relax and enjoy the ride when you use your eligible Card to reserve and pay for an auto rental! Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance provides coverage for theft of or damage to most rental vehicles. Simply decline the collision damage waiver (CDW) or similar option offered by the Commercial Car Rental Company. This coverage is excess to your other sources of insurance. Coverage applies for the first 30 days of an auto rental if rented from a Car Rental Company.
• Travel Accident Insurance¹⁴ — Charge the entire fare of a Common Carrier Conveyance (plane, train, boat, helicopter, or bus) to your Card, and you and eligible family members are covered for up to $100,000 in accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no additional charge.

PURCHASE PROTECTION & EXTENDED WARRANTY

• With Purchase Protection, your eligible purchases are automatically protected against theft or accidental damage for up to 90 days from the date of purchase – at no additional charge.¹⁸ The coverage is limited to $1,000 per occurrence, up to $50,000 per Cardmember account per policy year, and is in excess of other sources of indemnity.
• Return Protection lets you return it, no matter what they say. If you try to return a designated item within 90 days from the date of purchase, and the merchant won't take it back, American Express will refund the full purchase price, up to $300 per item, excluding shipping and handling, up to a maximum of $1,000 annually per Card account – as long as you bought it entirely with your eligible American Express^® Card.¹⁹
• Want to extend the warranties of your purchases? Paying for a covered item with your Card extends the original manufacturer's warranty for a period of time equal to the duration of the original manufacturer's warranty, up to 1 additional year, on eligible purchases with warranties of five years or less.²⁰ Items with warranties of less than a year will have extended warranties equal to the original warranty time period. Coverage is limited to the actual amount charged to your Card for the item or $10,000, whichever is less, not to exceed $50,000 per Cardmember account, per policy year.
